Pastor Jean Burch

Pastor Jean Burch is the senior pastor of Community Bible Church of Greater Pasadena, located on the border of Pasadena and Altadena, California where she has served since 2000. Prior to her appointment as senior pastor in April 2000 she spent 20 years in the legal profession working for two Los Angeles law firms and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. She is simply and affectionately known as “Pastor Jean.”  

In addition to serving as senior pastor she is also the President of the Community Bible Community Development Corporation. She is a founding member, past president and current board member of the Clergy Community Coalition, a coalition of Christian pastors and clergy representing the greater Pasadena area, working in conjunction with civic and community leaders.  She currently serves on the Fuller Theological Seminary Board of Trustees where she is a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Student Life and Services committee.

Pastor Jean is the recipient of numerous awards including the 29th Congressional Women in Leadership Award, and most recently, the 2020 California 41st Assembly District Woman of the Year award. Pastor Jean earned her M.A. in Global Leadership from Fuller Seminary and a B.S. from Biola University in Organizational Leadership.  She also wrote a chapter in the book, Memories, Hopes, and Conversations: Appreciative Inquiry, Missional Engagement, and Congregational Change (2nd Edition 2016) by Mark Lau Branson, one of five narratives describing how appreciative inquiry changed Community Bible Church. Additionally, Pastor Jean's journey from the boardroom to the pulpit is featured in Susan Maros’ book, Calling in Context: Social Location and Vocational Formation, to illustrate how power can be engaged in 4 dimensions of life: personal, organizational, social structure, and spiritual.Pastor Jean is a proud mother and grandmother and is blessed to have her family in ministry with her at CBC.
